Industrial Design Day 2024: A Lucid_ celebration of industrial design
Industrial Design Day 2024, organized by Lucid_ and powered by JUNGLE, brought together the leading voices in industrial design for a day of talks, panels and networking. With keynote speakers such as Patrick Speck (LIXIL) and Miquel Ballester (Fairphone), the event explored design, innovation and artificial intelligence. This year, IDD joins the official program of Barcelona Design Week, reinforcing its role as a key platform for the future of design.

Last October 2024, Barcelona became the epicenter of industrial design thanks to the celebration of Industrial Design Day (IDD), a day promoted by Lucid_ and powered by JUNGLE. The event, which brought together professionals, brands and design lovers, has established itself as a meeting point within the sector. And this 2025, it takes a qualitative leap by officially integrating into the program of the Barcelona Design Week, organized by the Barcelona Creativity Design Foundation, with Jungle as Grand Patron.

A day to inspire, share and connect

IDD 2024 offered a program designed to explore industrial design from multiple angles. The day kicked off with a powerful opening lecture by Patrick Speck, Design Director of LIXIL Group, who shared his vision on the need to design for people, not factories.

The morning continued with a live interview with Miquel Ballester, Head of Product Management at Fairphone, who focused his speech on circular economy and sustainable design.

After a brunch that encouraged networking among the attendees, a series of brief talks with big names in the sector followed:

  • Damián Calvo (Revolut, ex Dyson) highlighted the importance of understanding the user.
  • ‍MarcCapdevila (Kiska) described Kiska's relationship with the motorcycle brand: KTM.
  • ‍TiagoAbreu (independent consultant) reflected on different elements of the design world.
  • ‍RaquelAlventosa (Redbility) used storytelling to explain the design process followed at Redbility.

Open debate and design with perspective

In the afternoon, two round tables brought depth and debate to the event. The first one contrasted the differences between designing in an agency and designing in a company, with the participation of professionals from HP, Accenture Song, Shad and Wallbox. The second panel addressed one of the hottest topics of the moment: How to approach design in the age of artificial intelligence, with expert voices from Nahtrang, Anima Design, Liquid Lab and LaGranja.

Both panels offered a realistic, critical and constructive look at the present and future of industrial design, and reaffirmed Lucid_ 's commitment to the evolution of this discipline.

Next edition: bigger, more open, more impact

This year, the Industrial Design Day 2025 will be held on October 8 at the Design Hub Barcelona, a new space that will expand the capacity and increase its impact. This new edition comes with great news: IDD becomes part of the official program of the Barcelona Design Week, a recognition that reinforces its role as a catalyst for contemporary industrial design.

From Lucid_, we remain committed to design as a driver of innovation, impact and connection between people. And this year, more than ever, we want the IDD to be the place where all these forces come together.
